Letters to My Ghost - B.F.A. Thesis Show (2020)
Gallery and Bus Shelter Installation (Mockups), Invitation Postcards, Designs
*Physical installation of show canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic*
Through image and text, Letters to My Ghost explores ideas and ideals of womanhood, isolation and loneliness in an increasingly hyper-connected digital world. What does it mean to exist as a woman in the 21st century? What does it mean to feel alone, even in the busiest of places? Over time, I have found a kind of humor in creating work about isolation, intended to be seen in public spaces but ultimately forced to remain isolation by outside circumstances.
Each print contains text addressing different junctures and paradoxes of womanhood and femininity, addressed to versions of the artist that no longer exist. Pastel colors, soft shapes, and rounded text intentionally contradict the confrontational messaging.
Go ahead, try them on for size.
